Freshers' Fete

UTech Students’ Union Freshers’ Fete “The Genesis” was originally schedule to take place on Friday October 1, 2010 at the Student Activity Centre, however due the unpredictable weather it was postponed. The event was then rescheduled for Friday October 8, 2010. The Students’ Union was uncertain as to whether the event was going to transpire due to the threats of the “ever so often” unpredictable weather raining out the event and rendering it a “Flap”.
However despite the possible heavy rainfalls the students wanted the event to be held; the students wrote on the Union’s Facebook page that if it rains then the fete should be a water party, no matter how the condition was they would eventually “Jim Screechy” to the event.
So the Council had a “water proof” idea that the event’s venue should be relocated to the Engine Car Parking Lot, UTech. Special thanks should be given to Mr. Robert Finzi -Smith and his crew for approving the venue and putting in place the necessary security measures to ensure our safety.
On the day of the event the Director of Entertainment & Culture as well as the Director Special Projects and their committees transformed the parking lot to a site that was suited for all party goers. The patrons came out in their numbers and were entertained by an array of creative DJs, including Flabba, ZJ Liquid, Chromatic, ZJ Wah Wa and many others. Genre after genre, old school to new school and back to old school the audience was “full joying” themselves to the maximum.
There is a famous saying that “anything good affi done” so the party ended approximately at 3:20 AM. The patrons were saddened to its ending; however they gave the Union Kudos for hosting such an entertaining event.
The UTech Students’ Union wishes to thank all entities including our sponsors, the patrons, the security personnel and all other organizations that played a role in the event’s planning and execution. BIG UP Yourself!!!
